Not that long ago you would have been lucky to find any ethical beauty products on the high street but, now there are plenty to choose from as we see more and more of our favourite beauty brands jumping on the vegan bandwagon and binning animal-derived ingredients all together. So, if you are ready to make the switch, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite vegan brands that are available right here at No-ThirtSix beauty salon for every conscious beauty lover.
What makes a product vegan-friendly?
The definition of vegan make-up is that it’s a product that doesn’t contain any animal by-products. A by-product can be an animal ingredient or animal-derived ingredient. This includes honey, beeswax, lanolin, collagen, carmine (known by many names but is basically crushed insect body and legs to give the colour red!) keratine and guanine (aka CI 75170).
The word ‘vegan’ makes most of us think that the product isn’t tested on animals but, be careful as this isn’t regulated so don’t presume it hasn’t been! Unfortunately your favorite vegan product could easily have been tested on animals and still be classed as vegan-friendly.
If you are unsure about anything look out for certified logos on the packaging. Most established brands and organisations will show if their product has passed strict criteria to give you added peace of mind.
The Vegan Action non-profit organisation has the ‘Certified Vegan’ logo and the Leaping Bunny program with their recognisable ‘leaping bunny’ logo are both clear indicators on packaging that will let you know if a product is vegan or cruelty fee or in an ideal world, both.
No-ThirtySix is proud to stock a variety of Vegan friendly products which include our Gel Paint brand Premier Gel, Naf Cuticle Oils to strengthen and enhance natural nail growth, White to Brown self tanning lotions and spray tans, Bella Forever Lip Balms, Face Masks & Hand & Body Lotions as well as Vegan Leather Look Biker Jackets.
