Top Tips for the perfect lockdown nails!

Whilst you can’t get to the salon for your manicure or pedicure, here are our top tips for the perfect lockdown DIY mani/pedi, after all you don’t want to let standards slip!

Removing gel polish - just got so much easier with our handy removal kit ! It includes all the essential tools to easily and quickly remove any gel polish.

Soak and relax – forget lockdown stresses and take some time to relax. Soak hands or feet in warm, soapy water to soften the skin. File away dry skin on your feet, wash in clean warm water to reveal beautiful soft skin.

Go maintenance – start with the basics, gently filing and shaping nails to an attractive shape and push cuticles back to reveal a clearer nail bed. Make sure to be gentle with cuticles so you don’t cause any damage to them.

Cleanse – make sure you’re rid of any traces of old nail polish by wiping each individual nail down with some quality nail polish remover or if you have gel polish on, remove with one of our home kits. Make sure the nails are fully dry before applying a new layer of polish to get the perfect finish for your lockdown nails.

Paint perfect – starting with a base coat, carefully paint thin layers of polish and then top-coat onto your nails. Make sure that each layer is fully dried before adding the next for a professional and long- lasting finish.

Protect your skin – extra hand washing and use of soaps have a drying effect on your hands. If you’re not planning on painting your nails, then take the time to look after your skin instead. Add a thick layer of your favourite intense hand moisturiser and leave for a minimum of 15 minutes. Dab off the excess and feel softer, healthier skin almost instantly.

Protect your nails - use a cuticle oil. Without regular care, your cuticles can end up damaged, cracked, dry or broken. Cuticle oil is the go-to product to keep cuticles looking and feeling healthy. At No-ThirtySix we use and recommend Naf Stuff cuticle oil which contains a combination of Vitamin E extract & Jojoba Oil. These wonder ingredients will hydrate, nourish and lock in moisture while keeping your nails (and any product on them) flexible. By massaging cuticle oil in daily, you will improve blood flow to the root of your nail (the matrix) which results in longer, stronger nails over time and soft supple cuticles.

The oil can also help improve the health and appearance of your nail. If you paint your nails, cuticle oil can also protect your polish for a lasting shine.
